The Evans Honeymoon in Aruba! Part 1
Now that all of the wedding festivities are over and I’m a bit more settled in, I can get back into blogging! I’m beginning a series talking all about the wedding and my experience being married so far and this is the first blog in that series. I figured I’d begin with one of THE most if not the most exciting and fun experiences of the past 8 months. Sir and I vacationed in Aruba for our honeymoon and it was AMAZING! Funny enough, I desperately wanted to go to Mexico for the honeymoon and Sir wanted to go someplace else. (A little secret about us, we love one another deeply but we frequently disagree about simple things lol) So, we had to come to an agreement (great marriage practice) and we decided on Aruba, a place neither of us had ever been. We left two days after the wedding which gave us ample amount of time to relax and pack before getting on the plane. Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of flying. I’d rather drive to Aruba if I could lol but the plan ride wasn’t too bad. We arrived in Aruba on a Tuesday very excited to begin our honeymoon. Did it forget to mention that our resort was all-inclusive. All of our food and drinks were included in our travel package thanks to our amazing travel agent Kat Hines of Katskreations Travel and Tours. When we went up to our room we were immediately shocked. We knew we had a nice room with an ocean view, but we didn’t know how beautiful our room actually was (the pictures on the internet didn’t do it justice). Not only did our room have an ocean view, but it had two balconies, a jacuzzi tub, a living room and we could eat all of the food and snacks from the mini fridge. It was a dream!
After we got settled it our room, it was time to eat! We went down to one of the six restaurants available for us to eat at and we had a great lunch. Then, it was time to pick the excursions we wanted to do while we were there. We ended up choosing an underwater submarine adventure and a UTV tour of the entire including a swim at a natural pool. After booking our excursions, we ventured over to the lounge area where there was a pianist and live singer. In true vacation fashion, I decided to take advantage of the fact that I was thousands of miles away from anyone that knew me and I got up to line dance with the other vacationers. It was amazing and I felt so free! We were so tired from traveling that we decided to head to bed and get ready for our submarine adventure the next day.
We woke up that morning, got breakfast and headed to our excursion which was down on the other side of the beach. The weather was amazing. High 80’s with a constant breeze, no humidity and no clouds in the sky. We arrived to the port where our excursions deported from and got onto a medium sized boat filled with other vacationers. The host of the excursion was very funny and entertaining as we took off and soon enough we were getting into our submarine to go underwater. As we began to submerge underwater, hundreds of little fish swam around us looking for food. The host then explained to us that we were heading to a shipwreck that had been there since 1940. The ship was HUGE. It was fascinating to see something that big still mostly intact underwater. I had never seen a shipwreck before let alone gone 100 ft underwater.
Unfortunately, we didn’t see any large sea animals. The host said they usually sleep during the day. But to see the schools of fish, the shipwreck and go deep underwater was very fun!
We went back to shore and back to our hotel to get ready for our private sunset dinner on the beach. Here’s a pic from that amazing dinner which i’ll share in my next blog along with our UTV tour around the island, our couples massage and our return home.
