Your Faith Has Made You Well

Faith: The substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen
Hebrews 11:1.

I’ve seen and heard this word multiple times since I’ve been saved and even many times when I was unsaved but I never really thought twice about it. Faith is ultimately the essence of the Christian life. Why? In order to believe in a God that we cannot see we have to have some sort of faith right? Correct! There can be varying levels of faith. Unfortunately for the majority of my Christian walk my faith has been on the low end of the totem pole. Yes, I have enough faith that I believe in the Lord and I have faith that everything He does is to give me a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11) BUT I don’t have that move mountains, UNSHAKEABLE, pray 40 years for the same things faith that’s mentioned in the Bible many times!  But why don’t I? Why isn’t my faith just as strong as believers who lived during Bible times? Why isn’t my faith just as strong as people in other countries like China and India who are killed for believing in God? I can say being a Christian in America has made me comfortable. There’s no fear of persecution for being a Christian. There’s no urgency to really read and understand the Bible. There’s no urgency to have an unmovable faith in God! I have one friend who has an amazing faith in God. She had faith that the Lord would bring her husband in a specific year and He did. She had faith the Lord would provide her a specific job and He did. She had faith that the Lord would provide a car for her and her husband to get around more efficiently and guess what…HE DID! Now, I don’t want to highlight faith in a way that makes God sound like a genie. I want to highlight faith in a way that makes God GOD! Those examples were just the external results of having an unshakeable faith.

In the Bible there are many stories in which all God requested from some people was faith in Him and their situation was changed. One story in particular takes place in Luke 17. There were ten men with leprosy (highly contagious skin disease) that met with Jesus and He told them to go and show themselves to the priests and they would be clean. Now back during that time people with leprosy were looked down upon in their community. They were considered unclean and the townspeople were not to touch them so them going to the royal priests and being in their space was a VERY DANGEROUS move. But the ten men went anyway with the FAITH that they would be cleansed by Jesus. Jesus didn’t say I’ll cleanse you and then you go see the priests, He said go see the priests first and then I’ll cleanse you. As the men went to the priests they were cleansed of their disease.

How much faith did those ten men have to have to be bold enough and go see the priests under the pretense that they would be healed by Jesus? Remember that people didn’t believe in Jesus’ power. They did not believe that Jesus was the Son of God so there was a chance that the men would get in trouble for going to the priests still being infected with leprosy. But their faith was strong and they knew Jesus would heal them. After the men were healed though, only one of the ten came back and thanked Jesus and Jesus told him “Go, your faith has made you whole.” Not only was the man that came back healed of his disease, but also Jesus made him WHOLE. Isn’t that amazing? Isn’t it amazing how God is on our side?

For the past two months, I have listened to constant sermons on faith and trusting the Lord. That theme has literally been pounded into my head over and over again and now it’s time for me to make a change. Yes, the New Year is coming and yes there are areas of my life that I would like to leave in 2016… But I want my faith to increase and to keep increasing for the rest of my life! I want that unmovable, unshakeable faith in the Lord that comes from drowning myself in His Word and His presence!

I want you to experience the goodness of the Lord too. If you want to join me on this journey to a mighty faith leave a comment or contact me and we can begin this journey together!
