How to Have Fun in "Sin City"
I know, I know, the title of this blog sounds a bit weird BUT I know many people have different perceptions about Las Vegas based on what they’ve seen on TV, in movies or even their own experience and I want to share my experience to encourage those who may want to go but are skeptical about what they will do. I personally believe most people should visit Vegas at least one time in their life. It’s an amazing place with many different activities and adventures you could get into even if you don’t gamble, drink or go to nightclubs.
My husband surprised me with the trip to Vegas as a birthday/Christmas/Valentine’s Day gift and I was so excited that I talked about it for weeks! This was my first time going so I didn’t know much to expect besides people saying how crazy it was and how they could barely remember what they did while they were there. I knew I wouldn’t have that type of experience and I knew I would have to make it my own. When my husband surprised me with the trip, he also surprised me with tickets to the Cique Du Soleil show called Micheal Jackson ONE, tickets to an escape room and race car driving so our schedule got full pretty quickly. I began looking up places to eat because we both LOVE to eat and I knew Vegas is a city known for good food and then we were off!
So, here is the list of things we did in Vegas and I’ll give you even more things to do for fun.
New York, New York: I watch tons of vloggers on YouTube and some of my favorite ones visit Vegas pretty often. I saw one of my favs visit Vegas one time and she rode a roller coaster and the thrill junkie in me rose up lol I have always loved riding roller coasters so I researched where they were and we headed to New York,New York! Inside, there were multiple food stations and on the second floor there was a huge arcade where the roller coaster was located. My husband and I LOVE playing arcade games together so we were super happy once we saw the gaming options. The roller coaster was a lot of fun and you have the option of buying a $22 ticket for unlimited rides all day.
Cirque Du Soleil: I HIGHLY recommend you go see a show. We went to see Micheal Jackson ONE. I had no idea what to expect from the show and I didn't grow up a Micheal Jackson fan so I was just excited to see what was in store. I was skeptical because I didn’t want to see anyone impersonating Micheal Jackson and I’m so glad no one did. The show was very interactive with acrobats flying in the air, crawling up the walls and jumping all around the stage. Even though everyone didn’t have the best dancing skills, everyone was skilled in their own way. I was blown away at how the performers kept going for 1.5 hours with no intermission. It was truly incredible and I encourage everyone to go and see that show and others.
Race Car Driving: One day we went race car driving (which my husband found on Groupon) at a track about 10 minutes away from The Strip. I’m a competitive person and I love driving so I was READY to race lol I ended up winning both times of course.
Fremont Street Experience: We then decided to go downtown to Fremont Street which is an indoor strip filled with shops and restaurants. There were magicians and musicians on the street entertaining everyone. It was a very exciting atmosphere.
The Strip: The Strip itself is very fun! There are so many shops including the Hershey and M&M store, restaurants and entertainment.
Escapeology: Now of course you can do an escape room in your town but this was the first time my husband and I had ever done one and we had an amazing time. We didn’t know it at first but the game we picked was the hardest they offered and it definitely was intense!
Food: OMG the food was sooo good! My husband and I love to eat and we like to make sure we try different places and avoid chain restaurants. Some of the places we tried were “Yardbird Southern Table & Bar and Tender Steakhouse (inside our hotel) and TAO Asian Bistro. Our hotel had a really good brunch restaurant and we ate there every morning.
Other things I want to do next time I visit:
Gondola ride at The Venetian
Fountains of Bellagio
Pool parties (it was too cold when we were there in February)
See more shows
Walk the strip longer
Drive to Grand Canyon
I hope this blog was helpful for you if you’re taking a trip to Las Vegas. I believe everyone should visit one time in their life because it is a fun place!
