The Prodigal Daughter

There’s a parable in Luke chapter 15 called The Prodigal Son. The parable goes like this:

There was a man who had two sons. The younger son went to his dad and asked him for his share of the property his father had saved for both sons to inherit after his passing. This son wanted his share early which sends the message that he basically doesn’t care about his father (in so many words). But his father decided to give his son his inheritance. So the son leaves his home, ventures off to another country and wastes all of his money living recklessly (drinking, partying, etc.). The country where he was living suffered a severe famine and the son had no food to eat because he had no more money. He then hires himself out to citizens of that country and was sent to feed the pigs. While he was feeding the pigs he realized how good of a life he had when he was at home and he decided to return to his home country. He made his way home but before he could make it there, his father saw him coming and with great compassion he ran and embraced him. His father hugged and kissed him and told the servants to “quickly bring out the best robe and give him a ring for his hand and sandals for his feet”. His father ordered there be a huge feast and celebration for the return of his son.

I was the prodigal daughter and this is how my heavenly father views me.

Prodigal means to spend money freely or recklessly or it is a person who spends money in a recklessly, extravagant way. That’s literally me! I have lived so recklessly in my life. I have fallen into sin countless times, abandoned my father and left home. But every time that I return, He is standing there not to rebuke or scold me but to throw me a celebration. To clothe me with fine robes and to welcome me home.

How amazing and honoring is that? How beautiful is that? Christ loves us so much that even when we aren’t thinking of him, He’s thinking of us. When we return to Him, He rejoices. His heart is full of joy and happiness for His children.

That love is irreplaceable, unconditional and indescribable to the human logic. Which is fine by me. I’ll take Christ’s love and grace any day!

Reflect on your life. Rejoice in the Lord knowing that He is our Father, He loves us and everything He does for us is for our good. He does not mean any harm! AT ALL! I know I get worried about disappointing God and making wrong decisions but that's because my view of God is skewed sometimes. I often forget that He literally is my FATHER! He is looking out for me, He loves me, He wants to give me the best and He loves me UNCONDITIONALLY.

He's a Good Good Father!
